A train carrying 128 passengers and 14 crew members derailed in rural Kansas early Monday, sending at least 29 people to the hospital.
An Amtrak train derailed early Monday in rural Kansas, injuring dozens who were en route to Chicago and destinations between.
Multiple coaches left the rails about 20 miles outside Dodge City. Eleven injured passengers were taken to a nearby hospital, according to an Amtrak statement.
According to Grey County spokeswoman Ashley Rogers, 30 people were taken to area hospitals.
Rogers told InsideEdition.com that 21 patients were taken to Western Plains Hospital in Dodge City, while nine others were transferred to another facility. Rogers did not know the reason behind the transfers but said no one has life-threatening injuries.

Rogers said that seven cars had derailed with five of them on their side and two still standing.
It was not immediately clear what led to the derailment on the straight stretch of track. The Amtrak statement did not specify how fast the train was traveling and calls to the company's media office in New York were not immediately returned Monday morning.

Passengers not in need of treatment were transported to the 4-H Recreation Center in Cimarron, Kansas and will be provided alternate transportation to their final destination.
The Red Cross and other relief agencies are on-site providing assistance to those passengers.
"We are working with BNSF to investigate the cause of the incident," Amtrak said.
