Police would not say if the body had signs of trauma.
A woman’s body was found inside a suitcase left next to trash bins behind a downtown San Diego hotel, officials said.
A local man walking down a sidewalk spotted the black luggage near the corner of Seventh and A streets about 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to reports.
Something about the suitcase looked suspicious to the passerby, who called police, KSWB-TV reported.

"When I started talking to [police] I looked over at the suitcase and saw hair hanging out and I was like 'Is that a dead body over there?' [The officer] said, 'I think so,'" Rin Mitchell, who lives in a nearby apartment, told the station.
Information about the woman, only described by authorities as “young,” was not immediately available.
“The victim's identity is unknown at this time,'' Lt. Ray Valentin told reporters. “This is a tragic scene right now, what we've got here, but we're going to do everything in our power to find who ... did this to this person.”
