A Utah judge handed down the maximum sentence Monday to 24-year-old Jasmine Bridgeman.
A Utah mother has been sentenced to prison for her role in the beating death of her 2-year-old son over a dirty diaper.
A Utah judge handed down the maximum sentence to 24-year-old Jasmine Bridgeman, who pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice after lying to police after the death of James "JJ" Sieger Jr.
Bridgeman was sentenced to at least one year at the Utah State Prison. A parole board could sentence her to up to 15 years.

Bridgeman told the judge she was truly sorry and will forever carry the guilt of her son's death.
"May my son rest in peace and may God save my soul," she read from a short statement.
Police say JJ died after he and his mother went to live with her boyfriend, Joshua Schoenenberger in Layton, Utah, in May 2015.
Schoenenberger, 35, allegedly became enraged when JJ used his diaper instead of the toilet. Police say he stomped on the boy's stomach. The couple took the toddler a hospital, where he later died.

Bridgeman later gave conflicting accounts to police about how JJ was injured, police said. She first said he'd fallen while being left alone in a bathtub. She later said she'd heard the beating from another side of the room.
Authorities say Bridgeman said her boyfriend asked her to lie for him. She pleaded guilty in March, according to the Associated Press
Schoenenberger pleaded not guilty on Monday to aggravated murder and child abuse. A pretrial conference is scheduled for May 9.
