Ariel Winter's Mom Blasts Daughter's Breast Reduction: 'She Shouldn't Be Flaunting Her Scars'

The 'Modern Family' teen won emancipation from her mom, who is now talking to INSIDE EDITION.

Ariel Winter's mother is criticizing her famous daughter's decision to undergo breast reduction surgery.

Crystal Workman, who has not spoken to the Modern Family star in years, opened up to INSIDE EDITION about their broken relationship and said she was not happy to hear about the 18-year-old’s plastic surgery.

“I don't think anyone at that age should be cutting into their breasts," she said. "I am surprised she did it so young and that the doctor did it for her so young."

Winter revealed last June that she had undergone surgery to reduce her chest size from a 32F to a 34D, and has since spoken about how the change has improved her life. At the SAG Awards in February, her scars from the operation were clearly visible.

But while WInter was praised for the decision not to hide the scars, her mom wasn't impressed.

“I'm sorry, I just think this is inappropriate,” Workman told IE. “She should never be embarrassed of her scars but she shouldn't be flaunting them.”

Workman spoke to IE after Winter blasted her mom on Good Morning America in March -- more than three years after they stopped talking.

“It wasn't a supportive loving home. I had a really tough time,” the actress told GMA.

She revealed that she and her mother have not spoken in more than three years.

But speaking to IE, Workman defended herself, saying: “I didn’t start this battle. I haven’t seen her in three and a half years. I don't know why she is bringing this up. I think Ariel is conjuring up stories to help her career at my expense and I feel as a parent I am being bullied.”

In the interview with Robach, Winter also repeated claims she had an overbearing stage mom.

“This is what she wanted me to. And she pushed very hard for that. It was in the forefront of her mind instead of giving me what I wanted or needed,” Winter said.

Workman denied she was the driving force.

“She was begging me, ‘I want to be on TV.’ She would say “I can do better than your clients.’ She has never been pushed into the industry. Ariel has wanted to be in the industry since she was 5 years old," she said.

Winter battled her mom in court in 2013 and accused her of physical and emotional abuse. Her mom has repeatedly denied the claims.

The young starlet won emancipation from her mom just months before she turned 18.

“I am not a yes person. I am Ariel’s mother. I love her. And Ariel did not approve of my parenting,” Workman told IE. “I have stood by my innocence. I have never, never abused Ariel."

In court papers, Winter accused her mom of slapping, hitting and pushing her. However, Workman claims she is the victim of abuse.

Workman said: “I have been abused physically and I believe all of this is emotional abuse. Ariel should ask herself ‘has Ariel ever raised her hand to her mother? Has Ariel ever done anything that she's ashamed of to her mother?’”

While Winter has undergone a dramatic transformation, so has her mom. She lost more than 40 pounds recently and said it comes from the stress of being shut out by her famous daughter.

“Instead of thanking me, she continues to berate me, disrespect, dishonor me and that hurts as a mother,” Workman said.

The distraught mother told IE that she is still hoping to reconcile with her daughter and would like for them to go to counseling.

Ariel Winter's rep told INSIDE EDITION: "As we've stated previously, Ariel is happy and in a great place. We will not comment any further."
