Her beloved cat passed away after 16 years.
When students at Joshua High School in Texas found out that their math teacher’s beloved cat had passed away after 16 years, they wanted to get her spirits up.

So just two days after Mrs. Andrews’ cat, Blondie, died, Rachel Hanhart and friends Sheridan Swindel, Ashlei Mahan and Makayla Comer walked into the classroom to surprise her with two new kittens.
Speaking to InsideEdition.com, Rachel recalled how upset the 11th-grade math teacher had been about Blondie.
“She was sitting at her desk and we were all just doing our work," she recalled. "She began crying and we asked her what was wrong. She told us that her 16-year-old cat had died.”
After searching online, the high school student’s mother found two kittens that needed a home. They decided they would be the kittens to give to their teacher.
So they took the cats to school, along with cupcakes and flowers.
“We all were emotional before even entering the room. Not upset by any means, but more anxious than anything,” the high school junior said.

Rachel added that when tears started to flow down Mrs. Andrews’ face, everyone in the classroom got misty-eyed as well. The reaction was captured in a video that the student shared on Twitter.
“Mrs. Andrews began to cry because of the flowers, but then she saw the kittens and I don't even know how to describe her reaction. It was amazing. I think at that point everyone had tears in their eyes,” she said.
Mrs. Andrews has named the two new cats Missy and Girlie.
