A Kansas woman was attacked and held hostage for nearly a week after a date with a man she met on Tinder turned violent, officials said.
Shane Allen, 30, is accused of picking up the 20-year-old University of Kansas student from her sorority house about 2:30 p.m. April 12 and bringing her to his Lawrence home, according to court documents obtained by the Lawrence Journal-World.
The pair had met on the popular dating app and had spent one night together prior to their second encounter, the arrest affidavit said.
The young woman worked on a school assignment that was due later that night while she was with Allen, who invited two men over to his home, which the victim described to police as a trailer, the document said.

After she and one of his friends smoked marijuana, the friends left and the woman stayed over. When she got up during the night for a drink of water, Allen allegedly accused her of flirting with his friend and compared her to his ex-girlfriend, the affidavit said.
He allegedly punched her in the right eye, knocking her to the ground, the affidavit said. Allen allegedly continued to beat the woman, severely bruising much of the woman’s body and breaking blood vessels in both her eyes, officials said.
Allen then refused to bring the victim home, saying she couldn’t go home until the swelling around her eyes went down, authorities said.
Until he dropped her back at her house six days later, Allen continued to beat the woman, kicking her and choking her until she passed out, court documents allege.
On several occasions, Allen allegedly drove the woman to different places, including McDonald’s and to the homes of his relatives and friends. He is accused of making the victim send her friends Facebook messages to assure them she was okay and that she would be home in a few days, the Journal-World wrote.

Allen also threatened to kill himself, putting a knife to his throat, and went on to point the knife at the woman, the affidavit said. She told police that she didn’t try to escape because she was afraid that he would find her and kill her.
The woman was finally returned home on April 18 after reassuring Allen that she wouldn’t call the police, authorities said.
When she was dropped off, the woman was immediately taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, cops said.
She was treated for two black eyes, bruises and swelling on her head, face, neck and other areas of her body, broken blood vessels in her eyes, multiple scrapes and abrasions on her legs, knees and feet, the affidavit said.
Allen was arrested on five felony charges on April 22 and held in Douglas County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. He faces nearly 32 years in prison if convicted of all the charges.
