Man Accused of Killing Girlfriend, Posting Photo of Body to Her Facebook Page: 'Please Pray For Us'

It's not clear why Kenneth Alan Amyx allegedly killed his girlfriend, Jennifer Streit-Spears, who was found stabbed multiple times.

A Texas man accused of murdering his girlfriend allegedly posted a photo of the woman's dead body on her Facebook page, which alerted her horrified family to the gruesome killing, authorities said.

Police say Kenneth Alan Amyx, 45, posted to his girlfriend Jennifer Streit-Spears's Facebook account a picture that showed her corpse and another photo of him after the killing on Sunday.

Amyx was reportedly covered in blood in the photo, which included the caption: "Please pray for us."

Officers with the Plano Police Department found Streit-Spears, 43, dead in her Kathryn Lane home, where she was believed to live with Amyx. She had been stabbed multiple times.

Streit-Spears's sister spotted the pictures on social media and called 911 at about 10 a.m., officials said.

She told the Daily Dot that she tried in vain to get Facebook to remove the horrific images.

"I did ask them to remove it several times," the sister, who asked to remain anonymous, said. "They told me I could block Jennifer if I didn't like what she posted and gave me other similar options."

It reportedly took 36 hours and multiple requests before Facebook took the pictures down.

A spokesperson for Facebook told InsideEdition.com that it was not immediately clear that the images were not posted by the victim as a way to raise awareness or condemn such an incident.

The pictures were removed as soon as it was determined that the victim's account had been hacked, the spokesperson said.

"Facebook has long been a place where people share their experiences and raise awareness about important issues," the spokesperson said. "Sometimes, those experiences and issues involve violence and graphic images of public interest or concern.

"We remove graphic images when they are shared to celebrate violence. As soon as it was clear what the facts were behind this photograph, we removed it."

Police said they have the post as evidence.

Streit-Spears's Facebook page has since been changed to an "in remembrance" profile.

Amyx was also found in the house with superficial stab wounds that are believed to be self-inflicted, police said.

He was taken to a local hospital to be treated before he was brought to the Collin County Jail and held on $600,000 bail.

Amyx was charged with murder and also faces charges stemming from two serious sex crimes in separate counties; he was charged with continued sexual abuse of a child in Rockwell County and indecent exposure to a child in Dallas County, authorities said.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the murder, police said.
