A man was shot by police in what authorities said was a domestic-related incident between a woman and her children’s father outside baggage claim at Dallas Love Field Airport in Texas Friday.
The man allegedly came at an officer with a large rock after arguing with the mother of his children and throwing rocks at her car around 12 p.m., Randall Blankenbaker, Assistant Dallas Police Chief, told reporters.
The cop was able to separate himself from the unidentified man and put distance between them, but the man came at the officer again with the rock, which may have come from the airport’s landscaping, he continued.

After the man came at the cop a second time, the officer fired his weapon, Blankenbaker said.
Nine shots can be heard on a video witness Bryan Armstrong took of the incident and posted to his Instagram.
Shouts and a woman’s cries can be heard in the background as someone yells, “Get down!”
A man can be heard after the gunshots screaming, “Stay down! Stay down!”
It was not immediately clear how many times the suspect was shot. He was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition, but was conscious when he was transported, Blankenbaker said.
He noted investigators are also probing claims that the suspect yelled “Shoot me, shoot me!”
Neither the officer nor the woman believed to be the mother of the suspect’s children was hurt.
The pair’s children were not present during the incident.
The officer involved in the shooting will be placed on routine administrative leave per the police department’s policy, Blankenbaker said.
All travelers in the airport’s secure area were removed from the airport and made to go back through security as people waiting in nearby security lines were startled by the shooting and went through without being checked, Blankenbaker said.

“If you’re coming to the airport, I would say you need to give yourself a lot of time,” he said.
Dallas Love Field wrote on its Twitter account to expect about three hours in TSA security checkpoint lines for departing flights.
“There was an emergency shut down due to a shooting outside of Baggage Claim but we have reopened. Safety first,” they wrote.
Travelers commended the airline for its dedication to keep lines moving in spite of the incident.
“I’m through security. Never seen a line move so fast. Absolute kudos to @TSA & @DallasLoveField,” one person wrote.
“Lines are moving fast. Help us by being patient and courteous. Safety first,” the airline responded.
