Police believe the gunman acted alone.
A 20-year-old Georgia man has been arrested in the deaths of two high school students whose bodies were found behind a Publix grocery store early Monday morning.
Jeffery A. Hazelwood was charged with two counts of murder Wednesday morning, according to the Roswell Police Department.
A delivery driver discovered the bodies of Natalie Henderson, 17, of Roswell, and Carter Davis, also 17, of Woodstock Monday morning behind the Publix location.
Police believe Hazelwood acted alone in shooting deaths of the two teenagers.
Autopsies revealed that both victims died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Roswell Police Detective Zachary Frommer said in a press conference Wednesday: “Early indications are that they were killed there. We don't really have reason to believe they were killed elsewhere.”
He added that while they are searching for a motive, they don’t “have anything to indicate that drugs were involved right now.”
Detective Frommer told InsideEdition.com that it was "good old fashion police work" that led them to Hazelwood. "It was a multitude of things that happened to point to this person."
Davis, who was found on what was supposed to be the first day of his senior year of high school, was an athlete with hopes of extending his lacrosse prowess to the college level.
“We all are devastated by this tragic news. Carter excelled in the classroom and on the field and will be greatly missed by many friends. Today he should have been enjoying the first day of his senior year of high school, which is a special time for every child and family," read a statement from this school district in Cherokee County.
Davis’ principal at River Ridge High School also released a statement calling the athlete "an energetic student who was known as a friend to all. He always came to class in a good mood and with a smile on his face. He excelled in the classroom and was always willing to help out classmates."
In addition to lacrosse, Davis played on the football team.

Henderson was also active in extracurricular activities, her band director at Roswell High School said in a statement.
"Tonight we grieve the loss of one of our own," Dr. Michael Moon wrote. "Natalie Henderson was a thriving member of the Color Guard — a fun, talented young woman who was loved by so many. Her absence will be felt by each of us tomorrow and for a long time to come. During this difficult time, we ask that you keep the Henderson family in your thoughts and prayers."
