A North Carolina amputee was severely beaten by his girlfriend and her ex-husband, who are now charged with attempted murder, cops say.
A North Carolina amputee is recovering from a serious beating at the hands of his girlfriend and her ex-husband that ended with the theft of his prosthetic leg, police say.
The Gaston County Sheriff's Office says the incident occurred Thursday after Aaron Sanders and his girlfriend, Holly Mesker, got into an argument.
When Sanders reportedly ordered Mesker out of his house, police say Mesker called her ex-husband to come assault him.
In the pre-dawn hours, police say Mesker's ex, Patrick Christopher, arrived to Sanders' home with another man.
The two men allegedly threatened Sanders with a machete, hit him with a baseball bat and stun gun then left him for dead, WSOC reports.

Police say the attackers made off with the prosthetic leg, cash and Sanders' car.
Sanders was somehow able to crawl with one leg and a broken arm to the home of his next door neighbor, who called for help.
Now Mesker and Christopher have been charged with first-degree attempted murder and burglary. The third person is reportedly being held on related charges.
