Eastwood recently said that he'd choose Trump over Clinton.
Meryl Streep is on a mission to convince her friend Clint Eastwood to vote for Hillary Clinton.
Eastwood, a well-known Republican, recently told Esquire he’s fed up with political correctness and while he is not officially endorsing any candidate, in the race between the real estate mogul and Clinton, he said: “I'd have to go for Trump."
Streep, who co-starred with Eastwood in 1995’s The Bridges of Madison County, told Variety: "I’ll have to speak to him. I'll have to correct that! I'm shocked. I really am. I would have thought he would be more sensitive than that."
Streep spoke at the DNC in Philadelphia where she praised Clinton for breaking the glass ceiling and becoming the first female presidential nominee of any major party.
“What does it take to be the first female anything? It takes grit, and it takes grace," the Suffragette actress said. "Hillary Clinton has taken some fire over 40 years of her fight for families and children. How does she do it? That's what I want to know. Where does she get her grit and grace? Where do any of our female firsts, our path makers, where do they find that strength?
“Nearly 100 years after women got the vote, you people have made history. And you’re going to make history again in November because Hillary Clinton will be our first woman president, and she will be a great president. And she will be the first in a long line of women, and men, who serve with grit and grace. She'll be the first, but she won’t be the last."
Eastwood, who once portrayed a racist codger in the 2008 film Gran Torino, told Esquire that people need to “just f***ing get over” the GOP presidential candidate's racist remarks.

“But everybody — the press and everybody's going, 'Oh, well, that's racist,' and they're making a big hoodoo out of it. Just f***ing get over it. It's a sad time in history,” Eastwood said.
Eastwood turned heads four years ago at the RNC when he spoke to an empty chair during his keynote address. The actor claimed it was to symbolize Obama’s empty presidency.
