Sydney Leathers Speaks Out About Anthony Weiner's Impact on Election: 'I Think It's Crazy'

You may remember her from Weiner's second sexting scandal that cost him his bid for NYC mayor in 2013.

Anthony Weiner's former sexting partner Sydney Leathers says she "feels bad" about her role in the latest Hillary Clinton email scandal.

"It definitely is a surprising situation,” she told Inside Edition. "Truth is stranger than fiction; you cannot make this stuff up."

She added: "I definitely didn’t mean to do any damage to Hillary because I will be voting for Hillary."

Leathers was the object of Weiner's textual affection in 2013. Revelations about their online relationship — during which time Weiner used the alias "Carlos Danger" — emerged while he was running for New York City mayor and derailed his political comeback.

Earlier this year, accusations surfaced that Weiner sent text messages to a 15-year-old girl. During an investigation into the messages, the FBI looked at his computer and uncovered emails related to the closed investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server.

Weiner's estranged wife is Huma Abedin, Clinton's top aide.

Leathers said she helped the teen girl share her story.

“I do feel bad that it could hurt Hillary’s campaign but I still feel like I did the right thing for this kid,” she said. “I was 22 when I first started talking to him, so I can only imagine how a 15-year-old felt. Fifteen is very, very young… It is kind of unforgiveable and irredeemable when you do that with a child.”

Leathers added: "When I helped the 15-year-old get her story out there, it wasn't something I expected to see with the FBI talking about Hillary's emails again. I didn't think any of that would be intertwined."

She said she hopes the teenager has "good family support" and is glad her name has not been plastered across the internet or newspapers around the country.

Leathers also revealed she feels bad for Weiner's estranged wife.

"I feel very bad for Huma, she hasn’t done anything wrong in this situation, she was just married to a very bad guy. I am sure it is humiliating enough to have a philandering husband but when he is going after children — that is just a whole other level of weird and creepy and wrong," she said.

Since the disgraced congressman has had a history of sexting and getting caught, Leathers said she "doesn't feel bad for him." After his latest controversy, Leathers believes "he should go to jail."
