Billy Collett of South Wales is a crocodile handler at The Australian Reptile Park.
He invited his then-girlfriend Siobhan Oxley, who is also a zookeeper at the sanctuary, to join him as he fed Elvis, the park's saltwater crocodile.
As she hopped into the enclosure with an audience watching closely, Billy could be seen by the pool luring the crocodile out of the water with a piece of meat on a stick.
"The last three years have been the best of my life," Collett could be heard saying in a video posted to The Australian Reptile Park's Facebook page.
Then, in an unexpected turn of events, he tosses his equipment aside, reaches into his pocket for a ring, and kneels in front of Oxley.
"Will you spend the rest of your life with me?" Collett said as Elvis smiled a toothy grin in the background. "Will you marry me?"
With the hungry crocodile still lurking behind Collett, Oxley agreed.
