A 9-year-old child with autism took a joyride through a Tennessee town before crashing into a tree, police said.
The boy, who hasn’t been identified, was speeding through a residential area of Clarksville when the crash occurred, according to reports.

"Witnesses stated the speed was in excess of 70 mph in a residential zone that is set at 20 mph,” a police report states. “The driver [stuck] a driveway sending the vehicle approximately 23 feet in the air before striking a tree."
The tree was cut in half and the car then landed and rolled over before sliding into a telephone pole, police said.
The boy took the car, owned by his mother's 21-year-old friend, on Sunday afternoon, police said.

He has had a few minor issues and ran off a few times, but nothing to this extent,” Clarksville police wrote on their Facebook page.
The child was transferred to a local hospital, where he was treated for several lacerations, broken bones, and other injuries. He is expected to recover, police said.
