Cops Arrest Dad Who Allegedly Left 5-Year-Old Daughter At Bus Station, Later Found Mom Dead

They ruled the mom's death a homicide.

Police have captured the man who allegedly abandoned his 5-year-old daughter at a New York bus station, leading to the discovery of her mom’s dead body inside their home.

Elmer Gomez Ruono, 32, was arrested on Friday afternoon after allegedly hiding out in a Brooklyn homeless shelter before being kicked out for fighting, according to reports.

On Monday, cops found Ruono’s 5-year-old daughter alone and crying at Port Authority and she told police that her father told her to stay put until he got back but he never returned, according to police.

The little girl, who only spoke Spanish, then led police to her home address in Connecticut, where police found her mother’s body, authorities said.

Police identified the girl’s mom as 24-year-old Dionicia Bautista-Cano, a Guatemalan native, and ruled her death a homicide.

On Friday, officers reportedly saw Ruono walking down the street near the shelter and Federal U.S. Marshals and the N.Y./N.J Regional Fugitive Task Force took him into custody.

"He's in custody. We’re not going to tell you how we got him, but we got him," NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said.

Charges are reportedly forthcoming for Ruono.

According to reports, Bautista-Cano had just reunited with Ruono, her estranged husband, and the pair, along with their daughter, moved to a new apartment in Glenbrook from New Jersey just days before Bautista-Cano’s murder.

Police said there were signs of struggle in the apartment near the body.

The motive for her death appears domestic as police called the couple’s relationship 'very, very combustible.'

The 5-year-old has been placed in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families.
