Rachel and John Henson, who live in Orem, say they spotted the drone outside their bathroom window last December.
“My husband was getting ready for work and he shut the shower off and heard the whirring of the drone," Rachel said. "[The] bathroom window was closed and so he rushed in here and looked out the window and was able to see the drone."
John added: “It was very nerve-racking. It made me pretty nervous.”
He leapt into action and chased the drone outside the house.
When the drone came to a landing in a church parking lot, John grabbed it and called cops. Police screened the footage that was stored on the drone's computer card and were disturbed by what they saw.
Cops told Inside Edition the owner of the drone even modified its flashing red lights.
“We believe our suspect taped up the lights so that when this was being flown in the early-morning hours, you can't see it flying around,” Lt. Craig Martinez told Inside Edition. “This happened on several different homes that we saw on the video. One of them being a high-rise apartment, three or floors where this drone pilot is looking into someone's bedroom window.”
Cops say they were able to identify the drone owner because he recorded himself and his truck, including the license plate.
Police posted a photo on Facebook with the sly message: "We found your drone!”
They added: “We know who you are but let's make this easier on everyone! Would you like to turn yourself in before we have to come knocking at your door with a warrant?"
Cops say Aaron Foote, 39, and his girlfriend Terisha Norviel, 34, allegedly owned the drone. They were charged with voyeurism in January.
Norviel will appear in court on February 24 and Foote will appear on March 3.
