"She was found at the side of the river where she was lethargic, dragging her back legs and calling for her mum," said rescue worker Kristy Ludlam.
An orphaned otter cub is being nursed back to health, thanks to the kindness of a shelter for stray cats.

The RSPCA Stapeley Grange Cattery found a baby otter separated from her mom after Storm Doris swept through Cheshire, England, over the weekend.
“She was found at the side of the river where she was lethargic, dragging her back legs and calling for her mum,” rescue worker Kristy Ludlam said in a statement.
Ludlam said she took the otter to the vet, where the cub was given antibiotics and fed.
Shelter workers later named the baby otter Daffi, after the daffodil flowers that bloom locally in the spring.
"Daffi is very sweet," said Lee Stewart, a manager at the shelter. "It is very cute watching her move her paws while she is eating."

According to Stewart, the shelter is currently feeding her formula with crushed trout, and they hope to be able to feed Daffi whole fresh trout by the time she recovers.
“She is doing well consider what she has been through,” he said.
