Mom Who Spoofed April the Giraffe Gives Birth to Baby Boy... After Livestreaming Again From Hospital

Erin Dietrich has beaten April the giraffe.

A pregnant mom whose video mocking April the giraffe went viral earlier this week has welcomed a healthy baby boy — while there's still no sign of April's calf.

For weeks now, viewers around the world have tuned into a daily livestream from New York’s Animal Adventure Park, hoping to spot the moment April's baby is welcomed into the world.

As of Thursday morning, she still hasn't given birth.

Earlier this week, Erin Dietrich, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., spoofed the livestream by donning a rubber giraffe mask and doing pretty much the same thing as April — nothing.

Then on Wednesday, Dietrich, who was due to give birth March 14, revealed she was going to beat April.

She shared another Facebook live video, this time showing her in a hospital bed. Hours later, she announced the good news... while wearing her giraffe mask.

"He's here!!" she wrote on Facebook. "He is perfect, healthy and just beautiful! Our sweet Porter Lane arrived at 6:11pm tonight. 8lb 2oz and 21 1/2 inches.

"Our hearts are overflowing. Thank you so much for ALL the love and prayers! XOXO"

April wasn't bitter about being beaten. On Thursday morning, staff at the zoo congratulated Dietrich on her behalf.

"Congrats to the giraffe mask wearing mom for giving birth to her new son! Maybe I will be next..." read a message on April's Twitter page.

Earlier this week, Dietrich explained why she decided to film the original video.

"I can’t sleep at night anymore so in the middle of the night I say, 'Let me check and see if the giraffe had her baby.' It’s ridiculous," she told InsideEdition.com. “My husband was like, 'Let’s order a giraffe mask for when you go into labor and do it in the hospital,' because he thinks it’s ridiculous how I am obsessed with this giraffe."

Dietrich ordered the mask on Amazon and decided to bust it out sooner rather than later.

"I was like, 'Let’s do a live feed when the kids go to bed like the barn of April.' Originally we were going to do a minute but he kept it there 8 minutes," Dietrich said. "I could not believe when I woke up this morning there were 10 million views or something."

Her original video has now been viewed more than 30 million times.
