James Franco and David Letterman share Oscar® hosting stories as Franco talks about why he thinks he’s been criticized for co-hosting with Anne Hathaway. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.
It's a pity party for James Franco and David Letterman as they compete over which one of them bombed worse hosting the Oscars®.
Franco offered an explanation for all those reports suggesting that he was stoned during the broadcast—apparently it was all co-host Anne Hathaway's fault.
"People said I was under the influence. I love her, but Anne Hathaway is so energetic, I think the tasmanian devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway. She has a lot of energy," said Franco.
Just after the awards show Franco was blasted as "blasé," "distant," and a "disaster."
"I haven't watched it back. Maybe I had low energy but I honestly played those lines as best as I could," said Franco.
Letterman said, "Let me ask you a question. What the hell do you care?"
Leave it to Letterman, who was famously panned for his Oscar® hosting gig in 1995, to offer his own words comfort.
"I can tell you what will happen. For you, there will be a modicum of embarrassment, which you shouldn't feel. That will pass. You'll go into a period of numbness, and then you'll become, and rightly so, defiant," said Letterman.
Gee, thanks Dave!
