Michael Lay said there were between 25 and 30 sharks in the water.
The student who jumped into a shark-filled pool while on spring break is speaking out.

Michael Lay was at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas when he said he was dared to jump into a shark-infested pool.
Sharks were recorded chasing him as he got out of the water.
“I had no idea it was coming at me until I got out of the water and looked down and he was right at my ankle,” he told Inside Edition.
The sophomore at the University of Central Florida said he did not see any warning signs.
There were 25 to 30 sharks, and four of them were videotaped chasing the student, he said.
Will McCloskey shot the video and told Inside Edition he didn’t believe he would jump into the pool.
“We go over to the shark tank and there is a three-foot hedge," which looked like a decoration than a barrier, he said.
McCloskey said he was going to pay his buddy $1,000, but Lay said he would do it for free.

“I thought when he jumped in, the sharks would scatter and he would get right out. Then I see the sharks coming for him and I kept screaming ‘Get out! Get out!’ because this was going to end not like we planned,” he said.
His friend was able to get out without a scratch.
McCloskey said he has not heard from the hotel and thus far there have been no repercussions.
Shark expert Dr. Samuel Gruber told Inside Edition that if a shark gets close to you: “You punch him in the snout, you grab his eyes, you grab his gills, you do whatever you can to frighten that shark.”
