Katie Couric gave no definite answer to questions on The View today about her possibly leaving CBS Evening News, leading to further speculation on the news anchor’s next step. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.
Katie Couric faced the big question on The View, is she really leaving the CBS Evening News?
"Will you finally confirm that you're leaving?" Barbara Walters asked.
"No. First of all, I don't think it's my place to do that, I haven't made a decision. I'm in the middle of discussions," Couric said.
It's been widely reported that she's giving up the anchor chair when her contract expires in June. Walters tried her best to get Couric to reveal her plans but she didn't bite.
"...I'm looking at all sorts of opportunities and I promise when I make a decision I'll come back," said Couric.
But over on The Early Show, Couric seemed to hint that she'd like to host her own talk show.
"I love to talk obviously. I love to be my authentic self and I think it has served me well through the years. So I'm looking for a place where I can really be me," said Couric.
There's already a frontrunner in the race to replace Couric, 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley. The New York Times quoted a CBS executive as saying the job is "Scott's to lose."
Back on The View, Walters tried one last time to get something out of Couric: "I think you're doing the right thing," she said.
"Well you don't know what I'm doing but thank you!" responded Couric.
