A 53-year-old child molester in California will spend what will probably be the rest of his life in prison for sexually abusing young children for nearly three decades, officials said.
Martin Ruiz Sanchez was sentenced to 92 years to life in state prison for victimizing six girls between the ages of 4 and 6 over the span of 26 years, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
The abuse lasted from 1989 to 2015, when one of Sanchez’s victims contacted police in San Antonio, Texas, prompting an investigation, prosecutors said.
A warrant was issued for Sanchez in September of that year, and the next month, he was arrested by police in Stockton, California.
He was convicted in February of three counts of lewd acts upon a child, two counts of child molesting and one count each of continuous sexual abuse, oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years old or younger and forcible lewd acts upon a child, the district attorney’s office said.

Though he was convicted of sexually abusing six girls, two additional victims came forward during his trial, testifying that Sanchez had sexually assaulted them as well, authorities said.
In addition to his prison sentence, Sanchez has been ordered to register as a lifetime sex offender.
