The mother of an 11-year-old Michigan boy who hanged himself after his 13-year-old girlfriend allegedly played a prank on him is speaking out about the tragedy.
Katrina Goss appeared on the Dr. Phil show Monday to discuss the life of her son, Tysen Benz, and what happened to him March 14.
Goss said he had been acting normally that night so she was shocked when she later found him hanging in his closet.
“I thought he was just being silly and hiding on me and I was calling for him. And then I looked in his closet and I found him,” Goss told Dr. Phil.

His mother said she believes her son fell victim to a “cyberbullying” prank, claiming the girl used social media accounts to spread rumors that she had died. Goss later found her son in his bedroom.
Tysen was hospitalized for three weeks before his family made the decision to take him off lifesupport. He died on April 4.
“I mean he was so young. He was only 11," his mother said. "So to see a little child who was so innocent and had the most — the brightest future — to have to let him go was horrific."
The decision to take her son off life support was the hardest one she’s ever had to make, she said.
"I wouldn't wish it on anyone or my own worst enemy," she said.

The mother said she's not heard from the girl, who was reportedly in a relationship with her son, following the incident. "She didn't message me or contact me in any way," Goss said.
Since the incident, police have charged the 13-year-old, whose name has not been released, with malicious use of telecommunication service and using a computer to commit a crime — both misdemeanor charges. She has not entered a plea.
When contacted by InsideEdition.com Monday, her family's lawyer declined to comment.
