She is reportedly diabetic and legally blind.
A 67-year-old woman walking down a New Jersey street has been hospitalized after falling 6-feet into a store basement from an open sidewalk door Thursday.
In a video captured of the scary fall in Plainfield, the unidentified woman appears to be distracted by her cell phone and unaware of Acme Windows' access door in front of her.

“She got distracted with the phone and she didn’t see the gates open," Arturo Torres, the owner of Acme Windows, told InsideEdition.com. "She rolled down into the basement.”
Torres said the door was open because someone from PSE&G, New Jersey's utility company, was doing some work.
The woman was unconscious when she was lifted out of the basement but Torres said he didn’t see any bleeding.
The woman’s son told CBS2 that he is grateful his mother wasn’t killed and disputes the claim that she was distracted by her phone.
He said his mom is legally blind and diabetic and was feeling nauseous before the fall.
”She regularly takes — on schedule — her meals and checks her sugar," the woman’s son told the station. "As far as I was told, when she was walking down the street, she felt a little nauseous in a sense, and looked at her phone to see what time it was."
He said watching the footage of the fall was heart-wrenching.
“When I first saw the video, my heart dropped,” he said. “It was painful to watch.”
Moments after she fell, fire crews arrived and rescued the woman, pulling her out of the basement on a stretcher.

“She may be hurt, but at least she’s alive,” the woman’s son said.
Police said the woman was seriously hurt, and is now in stable condition.
