The actor was hosting the NBC sketch show for the fifth time four years ago, and even brought his then-wife Jennifer Garner to the stage as a special guest.
They both tried to dispel rumors that their marriage was on the rocks and cracked jokes about it during his opening monologue.
Multiple sources have told People magazine that Affleck and Shookus started dating around this time while Affleck was still married. Other sources, however, say the romance is new.
The Argo director and his new flame were recently spotted during a romantic dinner date in Los Angeles. The couple broke into big smiles after being asked by photographers whether they are an item.
Meanwhile, Garner kept a brave face as she was spotted outside church with her kids.

"It’s not an easy situation for Jen," a source told People.
The couple filed for divorce earlier this year, not long after calling off their separation, which began in 2015.
The couple has three children, daughters Violet Anne, 11, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, 8, and son Samuel, 5.
