Knowing he would miss a potentially life-changing job interview, Aaron Tucker still got off his bus and ran to save a man in an overturned vehicle.
A Connecticut man working to repair his life passed up a potentially life-changing job interview to save a stranger seriously wounded in a car wreck.
Aaron Tucker, 32, left the Isaiah House, a Bridgeport halfway house, for an interview to fill a busboy position at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Stamford Wednesday morning.
After serving a 22-month prison sentence for a weapons charge, Tucker said he has been laser-focused on getting a job to support himself and his 21-month-old son.
“I got up around 5 o’clock in the morning because I was so excited for the interview,” he told the New York Daily News.
Tucker boarded a crowded bus to get to his interview, falling asleep briefly on his way to Stamford. When he awoke, he saw a serious car crash ahead of the bus.

He sprang to action, but the bus driver warned that he would be left behind if he got off the bus.
Tucker didn’t think twice about it.
“I saw it and just had to help,” Tucker told Westport Now. “I had to do what I had to do.”
Along with three employees of Vautrin Auto Services, Tucker ran to the car, which had overturned and was smoking.
He unbuckled the driver’s seat belt and removed him from the car, keeping the man conscious and alert while they waited for help.

And when he noticed the man was bleeding from his head, Tucker took off his shirt—which he had been given to wear for his interview—and used it as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.
“Aaron is the kind of man who should be celebrated,” said a GoFundMe page created to help Tucker get back on his feet, which as of Friday had raised almost $12,000. “While others stood around and took video, he jumped into action and helped.”
The driver of the car was taken to Norwalk Hospital in unknown condition.
Tucker missed his interview, but has since received multiple job offers. He’s also been labeled a hero, which he’s quick to write off.
“Amazing thing you did!” one friend wrote to him.
“God did it actually, I’m just happy that he put me there at that time,” Tucker replied.
