Jordan Dinsmore thought on her feet.
A South Carolina student abducted by armed carjackers last week was saved when her captors couldn't drive her stick shift, cops say.
Jordan Dinsmore, a criminal justice student, was on her way home from her night job at a restaurant when cops say three men accosted her and threatened her life while demanding her valuables.

But when they allegedly tried to steal her 2009 Scion, cops say they hit a snag: None of them knew how to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
The difficulty was enough to make one of the suspects flee. “I was pleading with them to just take my stuff and let me go, but they said that I had to come with them,” Dinsmore told The State.
However, she says the two remaining suspects forced her to drive them to an ATM while allegedly threatening to sexually assault her.
As she withdrew cash, Dinsmore said she took the opportunity to unbuckle her seatbelt. After pulling away and into an intersection where cars were approaching, she told cops she put the car in neutral, opened the door and rolled out while screaming for help.
Dinsmore said she isn't sure what happened to her alleged abductors from there, but what's clear is that she used her own smarts and bravery to save herself from what could have been a terrible fate.
Her plan was so good, in fact, that local authorities quickly took to calling her James Bond.

But it wasn't the fictional spy who inspired Dinsmore. She told WLTX it was someone much closer to home.
“I thought back to my mom," she said. "She was almost a victim of sexual assault when she was in college and she fought back and fought the man off and I thought that I am going to be strong like my mom and I'm going to get myself out of this."
