She suffered burns on 85 percent of her face.
An 11-year-old New York girl who suffered bad burns after a friend allegedly poured a pot of boiling water on her during a sleepover is recovering well, her family said.
Jamoneisha Merritt spent 11 days in Harlem Hospital after the incident that left the 7th-grader with 85 percent of her face burned.

“She’s so amazing — she’s in good spirits,” Ebony Merritt, Jamoneisha's mother, told InsideEdition.com. “Her friends have come over and she’s in here dancing and listening to music.”
Merritt said it’s too early to know if Jamoneisha will need a skin graft but she's had a visiting nurse come and dress her wounds since her release from the hospital.
The 11-year-old isn’t letting her injuries stop her, however.
On August 24, the family will hold an anti-bullying and stop the violence cookout for Jamoneisha, which will include a fashion show that she will walk in.
Jamoneisha was sleeping over a friend’s house on Aug. 7 when her friend reportedly doused her with boiling water in a “prank” that resembled the “Hot Water Challenge,” a YouTube trend in which kids pour boiling water on unsuspecting people.
A 12-year-old, who InsideEdition.com has chosen not to identify, was taken into custody following the incident, reports said, but the case was immediately turned over to Family Court because she is a minor.
Merritt said she wants justice for what happened to her daughter.
“I just want justice," she said. "They need to be held accountable for their actions."

The mom said she’s appreciative of all of the support her family has received.
“She’s been getting flowers and balloons,” Merritt said. “I’d like to thank everyone for the love.”
