The revelation came amid backlash on social media over the former White House press secretary's appearance on the show.
Sean Spicer wore a disguise to keep his show-stopping appearance at the Emmy awards top secret.

Spicer and his wife, Rebecca, arrived back in Washington this week, as The New York Times reveals the former White House press secretary’s disguise apparently "included fake facial hair."
He was asked about The Times report when he and his wife arrived back in the nation’s capital Monday.
He said it wasn’t a disguise but “a little incognito coming out.”
Spicer never left his hotel room in Los Angeles except for one walk-through rehearsal that took place only after the auditorium had been completely cleared, to ensure secrecy.
Spicer was also given a false name in the scripts handed out to all crew members and presenters at the show.
The deception worked and the audience was left flabbergasted by his appearance.
Many on social media were outraged over what they considered Spicer’s embrace by the celebrity audience that spent much of the event taking shots at his former boss, President Trump.
A photo of Spicer getting kissed on the cheek from James Corden elicited a response from the Late Late Show host Monday night.

“According to some reports at the after party, Spicer was the most popular guy in the room.” Corden said. “And I just want to say, I think people are forgetting that this man lied to the American people, and should not be embraced. These Hollywood phonies kissing up to Sean Spicer are disgusting. I mean, who did this? Who are we talking about here?”
Corden added: "I know you think that is a picture of me kissing Sean Spicer. But in the spirit of Sean Spicer — no, it isn't!”
The British late night host continued to explain why the kiss happened.
“Anyone ever have that feeling when you get a little drunk and then wake up the next morning and think, ‘Oh God, who did I kiss last night?’ It’s a bit like that,” he joked. “To be fair, everyone was kissing ass last night at the Emmys. I just happened to kiss the biggest one there.”
