John Travolta has been hit with a lawsuit from two male massage therapists who say the movie star sexually assaulted them in a Beverly Hills hotel, but Travolta says it's all a baseless lie. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
John Travolta is fighting back over a shocking lawsuit that claims he sexually assaulted two men who were giving him massages.
One masseur, identified only as John Doe in court papers, claims the 58-year-old superstar hired him for a massage and personally drove him to the famed Beverly Hills Hotel where Travolta rented a secluded bungalow on the hotel grounds.
INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret reports from inside one of the 21 exclusive bungalows at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
The lawsuit describes Travolta as being dressed in dark glasses, a loose-fitting athletic shirt and jeans, and says a massage table was set up inside the suite. The first thing the masseur says he noticed was a professional chef cooking hamburgers inside the bungalow. That chef could be a key witness. The masseur says he wasn't prepared for what he says, happened next.
He claims inside the bungalow Travolta "shamelessly stripped naked" and "kept purposely sliding the towel down that covered his buttocks."
Travolta allegedly told the masseur: "Say something nice to me. Just be open minded and let it happen."
The lawsuit goes into graphic detail and demands $2 million in damages for sexual battery.
Legal expert Royal Oakes told INSIDE EDITION, "It's very difficult to win a case like this without any corroborating evidence—a witness, some physical evidence. Without all that, jurors look at the accuser and say, 'Well, maybe you're just trying to shake down a millionaire movie star."
A spokesman for Travolta said the lawsuit is, "Complete fiction and fabrication. None of the events claimed in the suit ever occurred. On the date when plaintiff claims John met him, John wasn't in California."
Legal expert Lisa Bloom told INSIDE EDITION, "He has already made a statement he wasn't even in Los Angeles at the time. Now, we can look to see if that's true or not. Are there photographs? Plane records? Are their hotel records? John Travolta is a major celebrity. When he arrives somewhere, there is usually a lot of fanfare."
The masseur claims the assault took place on Monday, January 16th. So, is it true that Travolta wasn't even in Los Angeles on that day, as he says?
Here's what we've learned.
On Thursday, January 12th, Travolta appeared with Olivia Newton-John at an event in Hollywood promoting Qantas Airways.
On Saturday, January 14th, he attended an event called the G'day USA gala promoting Australian tourism.
Sunday, January 15th was the Golden Globes, but Travolta didn't go.
The next day, January 16th is when the masseur claims he was assaulted. Travolta says he was 3,000 miles away.
"It can be proven that he was on the east coast," a spokesman said.
Although the statement didn't say where, we've learned that shooting began in Atlanta on his new thriller with Robert De Niro that week.
Most people don't believe the shocking allegations. An INSIDE EDITION poll shows that 71% think the masseur is lying and only 21% believe he's telling the truth.
But legal expert Lisa Bloom, author of the new parenting book Swagger, says Travolta may settle just to make the lawsuit go away.
"John Travolta does not want a full-blown trial on these issues. He does not want these allegations out there in the public eye, damaging his reputation. Better for him to settle the case, even if it's not an approriate case, even if it's not true," said Bloom.
