Beyoncé and Jay-Z had some laughs, facing off for the same honor at the BET awards, but it was the Whitney Houston tribute than left everyone in tears. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Mariah Carey could barely hold back the tears during an emotional tribute to the late Whitney Houston at the BET Awards in Los Angeles.
Carey said, "We'll always have the music. I miss my friend. I miss hearing her voice and laughter."
There wasn't a dry eye in the house when Whitney's mom, Cissy Houston took the stage singing the Simon and Garfunkel classic, "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
Cissy reportedly wasn't happy when she was booked at The Beverly Hilton, the same hotel where Whitney died in February. She apparently moved to The Beverly Wilshire down the street.
But the night was also for awards. Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z were competing for the same award—Video of the Year.
The award was presented by Jamie Foxx who said, "And the winner is...oh, it's gonna be an argument at the crib. Jay-Z and Kanye West."
West's girlfriend, Kim Kardashian watched as Jay-Z played a joke on him as West was saying, "I want to thank BET.." Jay-Z interrupted with, "Excuse me Kanye, I want to let you continue but..."
And Chris Brown made his first public appearance since that notorious nightclub fight with Drake. Brown, who received the Male Artist of the Year award, put on an energetic performance that wowed the crowd.
