Tom Brokaw Rushed To Hospital After Clinton Wows DNC

INSIDE EDITION reports from the Democratic National Convention where Tom Brokaw was rushed to the hospital the morning after former President Bill Clinton blew the crowd away with his rousing speech.

There was a health scare for legendary TV newsman Tom Brokaw at the Democratic Convention. He was rushed to the hospital after appearing on MSNBC Thursday morning.

Brokaw looked out-of-it and was slurring his words during his apperance. The dramatic moment happened during the live taping of Morning Joe at the Democratic Convention in Charlotte. The 72-year-old Brokaw felt light-headed on the set, and NBC said in a statement, "Out of an abundance of caution, he was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation."  He was released from Carolina's Medical Center after several hours and NBC now says he's in great health.

INSIDE EDITION spoke with Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough who said, "I think Tom is doing well, nothing serious at all."

Brokaw sent this tweet from the hospital, attributing his medical issue to having taken Ambien, the powerful sleeping pill: "All is well early AM I mistakenly took a half dose of Ambien and made less sense than usual. Made a better comeback than Giants."

Of course Brokaw was referring to the New York Giants who lost to the Dallas Cowboys 24-17 in the big opening game of the new NFL season. Just released TV ratings show the game trounced the Democratic Convention coverage. Almost 20.6 million viewers watched the football game on NBC, while CBS, ABC and Fox had a combined 12.8 million viewers.

Former President Bill Clinton is receiving rave reviews for his big speech supporting Obama that ran against the football game.

Clinton said, "Aren't we better off than we were when he took office."

"I want to nominate a man who is cool on the outside, but burns for America on the inside. And after last night, I want to nominate a man who had the good sense to marry Michelle Obama," said Clinton.

Clinton's rousing speech ended with a surprise appearance by the President. The two bowed to each other and then shared a big bear hug. The Democrats will roll out some A-list celebrities before President Obama's acceptance speech.

INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander caught up with Eva Longoria as she visited the convention stage to rehearse for her big speech. Longoria was running around in flip flops in the hallway before she speaks to the nation.

"I heard that you're nervous for your speech," said Alexander.

"I am. It's a big arena, the stakes are really high for this election," said Longoria.
