Some of Hollywood's biggest names will gather for a telethon on Friday to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Celebrities are once again coming together in time of national crisis, with a telethon to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Matt Lauer announced on the Today show, "We'll be broadcasting a special concert to benefit victims of the storm. It's called Hurricane Sandy, Coming Together.
Many of New York and New Jersey's native sons are rushing to take part. New Jersey-born singer, Jon Bon Jovi, cancelled his European concert tour and is flying home. Jersey Shore legend, Bruce Springsteen, will also be on hand. So is Long Island, New York, native Billy Joel. Christina Aguilera will lend her powerful voice to the event. Jimmy Fallon, who tapes his late night show in New York City will also be taking part.
Sophie Schillaci of The Hollywood Reporter told INSIDE EDITION, "It's really one of the best ways to reach people and I think it's a really great way for people all across the country to feel engaged."
Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Madonna and Mariah Carey raised our spirits at the 9-11 Tribute to Heroes, which was co-produced by George Clooney. Hollywood's biggest names raised $200 million. The telethon aired in 210 countries worldwide.
And when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, Shelter From The Storm brought a sense of hope to everyone.
Now, America is pulling together once again, finding hope in the midst of terrible devastation.
