Jennifer Lawrence is one of the celebs apologizing for remarks made surrounding the Golden Globes. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.
Golden Globe winner Jennifer Lawrence is speaking out about the flack over her acceptance speech.
When Lawrence accepted her award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, she said, "What does it say? I beat Meryl!"
Lawrence said on the Late Show with David Letterman, "It's never a good idea for me to wing it."
Many viewers were outraged, taking it as a dig at Meryl Streep, considered to be America's greatest living actress.
Even Lindsay Lohan, of all people, went on the attack, tweeing: "no1 should ever mess with a legend, such as Meryl Streep."
It turns out that Lawrence, a huge movie buff, was quoting a moment from the hit 1996 movie, The First Wives Club.
"It was a quote from The First Wives Club," explained Lawrence. "Bette Midler was talking about a Globe. I can't believe that no one has ever done it before. It was so perfect and I said it and I had no idea that Lindsay Lohan would take to the Twitterverse."
Lawrence set the record straight in a charming appearance on Letterman. She said Streep is actually her favorite actress.
"I wanted to make a public statement like, 'Hey idiots, it's a quote from a movie, and it's Meryl Streep.'"
And another apology is coming from Howard Stern, who told Golden Globe winner Lena Dunham he's sorry for bashing her.
"I was being very critical and horrible," said Stern.
"That's such a sweet way of putting it, oddly," said Dunham.
Dunham, the star of HBO's Girls, graciously accepted an invitation to call into Stern's radio show Wednesday morning after she was the target of a mean rant from the shock jock last week when he said, "I learned that this little fat chick writes the show and directs the show and that makes sense to me because she's such a camera hog that the other characters barely are on."
On Stern's show today, Dunham did put him in his place.
"I'm not that fat Howard...I'm not super thin, but I'm thin for like Detroit, you know?" said Dunham.
Stern replied, "Yeah, you're not obese or anything."
"So Howard Stern says I'm not obese or anything."
"This is all coming out horribly," said Stern.
But Dunham left Stern with a simple message: apology accepted.
"I really appreciate it, and I appreciate your effort to rectify it. Whether you've done that or not, I would have remained an enthusiast."
