Speculation swelled that Beyonce's electrified halftime performance caused the blackout at the Super Bowl. Now, officials are stating what really caused the power failure. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Did Beyonce's electrifying Super Bowl halftime show actually cause the blackout?
WFAN sports radio's Boomer Esiason, said Beyonce's pyrotechnics blew the Superdome's lights during rehearsals.
Esiason said, “Beyonce blew the electric twice, I'm told.”
Beyonce's husband, Jay-Z, added to the speculation, tweeting, "Lights out!!! Any questions??"
But the NFL is disputing those claims, saying, “Beyonce's light show ran on its own generator.”
NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell said, "I know it's been out there that Beyonce's half-time show had something to do with it. That is not the case from anything we have at this point."
So, what went wrong?
Two power feeders run into the Superdome from a substation. Suddenly, one of those feeders went out, resulting in the loss of power on the west side of the stadium.
The blackout is fodder for the late night comics.
Jimmy Fallon joked, "Lights went out in third quarter. It was weird cause normally I don't experience a blackout until after the Super Bowl party."
Jay Leno said, "You see what happens when Beyone actually sings live. That's what happens."
Jimmy Kimmel said, "Someone clapped twice and everything went dark."
During the performance, Beyonce flashed a diamond shape with her hands.
Yahoo Sports asked, "Did beyonce flash an illuminati sign?"
Nope. The mega-star wasn't forming a symbol for the mythical super secret society. Jay-Z's loyal wife was making the logo for Roc-A-Fella Records, his record label.
There's speculation that Beyonce's halftime show was an audition for the role of Wonder Woman. Images of the iconic Wonder Woman closely resemble Beyonce during her performance.
Beyonce has always dreamed of playing Wonder Woman, telling the LA Times, "I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman?"
Could Beyonce have been inspired by none other than Tina Turner?
Beyonce's super sexy outfit is almost an exact replica of the one Tina wore on stage in 1979. Their leather and lace constumes are practically identical.
Beyonce's elaborate leotard, jacket and miniskirt were created by a team of 14 people over a whopping 200 hours.
Designer Rubin Singer said, "She was losing so much weight every day that we kept taking it in and taking it in. She literally was the incredible shrinking woman, because she was rehearsing vigorously and had nerves on top of it, I'm sure."
