"The Bible" Mini-Series Ends In Epic Fashion

Millions tuned in for the finale of the epic mini-series The Bible, and took to social media to share their experiences. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

It was the eagerly awaited resurrection scene from The Bible finale that aired Easter Sunday on the History Channel.

Jesus appeared to his disciples and displayed his nail-pierced hand.

The crucifixion scene was so moving and graphic it reduced many viewers to tears.

CNN’s A.J. Hammer said, "Last night's Easter finale really touched a nerve among viewers."

"America In Tears" reads the headline from London’s Daily Mail.

Oprah Winfrey tweeted, "beautiful moment helping Jesus bare the cross."

One viewer tweeted a photo of her mother covering her mouth in shock. My mom watching #thebible right now. Intense.

Another tweeted, "my attempt to fight back tears during the bible just didn't work."

The 10 hour mini-series has been a ratings bonanza for the History Channel and the Easter Sunday finale was no exception. The Bible was up against some stiff competition from the hit AMC series, The Walking Dead.

Whoopi Goldberg said, “Last night it was a fight. It was between Jesus and the zombies."

The zombies won the night with 12.4 million viewers but it was a tight race with The Bible earning 11.7 million viewers.

So, what's next for The Bible executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett?  INSIDE EDITION spoke with Roma who also played Mary in the mini-series.

Roma said, “We're hoping to continue and produce something else on the Bible.”
