Miley Cyrus Remains Defiant Following Raunchy VMA's Performance

Miley Cyrus is making no apologies for how she acted during her controversial VMA's performance. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

Miley Cyrus isn't one bit sorry about her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards .

Miley tweeted a defiant photo of herself flipping off her critics. She's also boasting a PR victory tweeting: “My VMA performance had 306,000 tweets per minute. That's more than the blackout at the Superbowl.”

Adweek's Emma Bazilian told INSIDE EDITION, "I don't know if it was the smartest move if she wants to appeal to the same audience that was watching her as Hannah Montana. But, she is getting so much buzz right now. She is such a hot topic that I don't really think it could be all that bad of a move."

Miley's shocking performance is causing uproar.

On Good Morning America, George Stephanopoulos said, “The former Hannah Montana star even got a new nickname, ‘The Queen of Obscene.”

On the Today show, Matt Lauer said, “Instead of getting criticized, she should get an A+ for accomplishing what she wanted to accomplish.”

The racy performance led the media watchdog group Parent’s Television Council to issue a statement accusing MTV of “..promoting acts that incorporate 'twerking' in a nude-colored bikini. How is this image of former child star Miley Cyrus appropriate for 14 year olds?”

Ironically, Miley's own dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, is on the advisory board of the Parent's Television Council.

Singer Cindi Lauper had an assessment of Miley's performance during a radio interview. She said, “Basically simulating a Girls Gone Wild video on stage. And I just felt like it was beneath her and really raunchy. It was raunchy, it wasn't even art."

Even Miley’s buddy, Kelly Osbourne slammed her on her show, Fashion Police.

Osbourne said, “Miley is my friend and I love her. I have her back, no matter what. As her friend, I am going to tell her, put your [expletive] tongue back in your mouth.”

David Letterman poked fun at Miley's sticking her tongue out. He said, before throwing to a fake news package, "There is nothing funny about it. This little known affliction." His news package said, "If you are one of the millions of Americans who suffer from Restless Tongue Syndrome, there is a wide range of treatments that may be right for you: Medication, Exercise, Lifestyle Changes. Consult your physician today."

In Los Angeles, Selena Gomez, who won an award at the VMA’s, went to the premiere of her new movie Getaway. She side-stepped questions about Miley and said her favorite performance was Lady Gaga.

Gomez said, "It was good. I was actually really impressed with Lady Gaga, not that I should be impressed because she is absolutely stunning."

American Idol’s Adam Lambert is one of the few celebrities to express support for Miley, tweeting: "She was having fun... cut her some slack.”
