Katie Couric Engaged to Wall Street Financier, John Molner

Katie Couric got engaged over the holiday weekend to a Wall Street financier and INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

Katie Couric's boyfriend of almost two years, a Wall Street financier named John Molner, proposed to her over Labor Day weekend. People.com broke the news.

"They were out at East Hampton, and he proposed at sunset on the beach and gave her a spectacular diamond ring," said a reporter.

"Yes, it's true," exclaimed Couric, "So touched by all the kind tweets and warm wishes—thank you! A great end to the summer."

Couric became a widow in 1998 when her husband, lawyer Jay Monahan, died from colon cancer at age 42. That tragedy prompted her famous mission to encourage colon cancer screening.

Fifty-six-year-old Couric's busy love life has been a source of interest for years. Among her suitors, 50-year-old trumpet player Chris Botti and 'boy toy' entrepreneur Brooks Perlin who was 17 years younger!

Couric's fiancé is six years younger than her. "A little more age appropriate," she says.

Here's what we know about John Molner: he's 50 years old and is head of mergers and acquisitions at investment bank Brown Brothers Harriman. He's divorced and has a teenage daughter.

Couric has two daughters; 21-year-old Ellie and 17-year-old Carrie, who posed with her for a 'Got Milk?' ad. The second season of her syndicated talk show returns to TV next week.
