Amanda Knox is defending her decision not to return to Italy to face a retrial for the murder of her roommate in 2007.
"I was already imprisoned as an innocent person," she said.
Knox spent four years behind bars after being convicted at her first trial. The conviction was overturned in 2011, and Knox returned home to Seattle.
The Italian Supreme Court has now ordered a new murder trial that starts September 30th.
But on the Today show, Amanda told Matt Lauer that she will stay put in Seattle.
Lauer said to Knox, "By saying 'I will not go back there,' there are going to be some people who look at this as a sign of guilt. She's got something to hide, and she doesn't want to stand trial."
Amanda replied, "I look at it as an admission of innocence."
If convicted, Italy can request that Amanda be expedited.
