The government remained dramatic until the end when an official House stenographer took to the podium in a bizarre episode. INSIDE EDITION reports.
There was a bizarre scene on the floor of the House of Representatives as the official stenographer suddenly freaked out.
Stenographer Dianne Reidy said, "This is not one nation under God. It never was! The Constitution would not have been written by Freemasons.They go against God!"
It happened at the close of the historic vote to end the government shutdown. House stenographer Dianne Reidy calmly marched up to the podium and had a meltdown as the nation watched.
"He will not be mocked," she said.
Dianne Reidy is a 48-year-old mother of twins. She's said to be deeply religious and her Facebook page is punctuated with religious messages like "to God be the glory!"
She was hustled off the floor of the House by Capitol police and taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
Chicago Sun Times Washington Bureau Chief Lynn Sweet shot the dramatic video.
"What made this so much more damatic was that I could see the reaction of people around this woman who knew her and who clearly felt terrible," said Sweet. "I could se people who were crying because this was one of their own who somehow, for some reason, snapped," said Sweet.
Reidy continued, "The Constitution would not have been written by Freemasons. They go against God!"
Reidy was ranting about the founding fathers and Freemasons, who have long been a target for conspiracy theorists.
Dan Brown's best-seller The Lost Symbol featured sinister Freemasons in D.C. and the movie National Treasure centered on a fortune buried by Freemasons during the Revolutionary War.
But there was nothing fictional about this stenographer's public meltdown in front of millions of people on live TV.
