Brittany Murphy's father tells INSIDE EDITION he suspects the actress could have been poisoned. Pathologists share their opinions on the bombshell claim.
There are new bombshell revelations in the mysterious death of actress Brittany Murphy.
Her father tells INSIDE EDITOIN that he believes the 32-year-old star may have been killed with rat poison.
Her dad, 87-year-old Angelo Bertolotti is revealing results of a new toxicology report he commissioned.
INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret asked, "Do you believe your daughter was murdered?"
"I absolutely do," replied Bertolotti.
The report tested Brittany's hair and concluded she had high levels of 10 different heavy metals like aluminum, copper, and zinc in her body, including those found in rat poison.
"The only logical explanation would be an exposure to these metals (toxins) administered by a third party perpetrator with likely criminal intent," the report concludes.
Moret also spoke with Julia Davis, who investigated the case for Brittany's dad.
Davis said, "Heavy metals that were found in unusually high concentrations in Brittany's system are also normally found in rat poison and pesticides."
Brittany, who co-starred in the movies Clueless and 8 Mile, and was once engaged to Ashton Kutcher, was just 32 years old when she died in her Hollywood Hills home in December, 2009. Her devastated mother called 911.
The Los Angeles coroner ruled her death accidental, caused by pneumonia, anemia, and drug intoxication.
But her dad wants her death case reopened, saying he's always been suspicious about how Brittany died.
The story took another shocking turn just five months after Brittany's death, when her producer husband, Simon Monjack, also died suddenly from pneumonia at the age of 40.
Monjack's mother told Paul Boyd via Skype today that she now wants his death investigation reopened as well.
"You want Simon's hair sample tested now too?" asked Boyd.
Monjack's mother replied, "He had hallucinations. He had all sorts of things that you would attribute to poisoning."
Famed pathologist Cyril Wecht told INSIDE EDITION that the new toxicology report raises troubling questions.
INSIDE EDITION's Paul Boyd asked, "Is it possible that Brittany Murphy was poisoned and this could be murder?"
Wecht replied, "Based upon the test results alone, that is a possibility, in my opinion, that cannot be sluffed aside."
The Los Angeles coroner's office says it has no plans to reopen the investigation into Brittany's or Simon Monjack's death, saying in a statement to INSIDE EDITION:
"We have not seen the results and nothing has been presented to us. We stand by what we ruled on the case."
Brittany's mother has maintained that toxic household mold was responsible for Brittany's death. She even hired an environmental cleaning company to remove the mold. She could not be reached for comment on the disturbing claims.
Julia Davis told INSIDE EDITION, "It's very important that Brittany be remembered for who she really was. She was a sweet, and naive, and very wholesome girl."
