Joran van der Sloot, suspected in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, was hauled off in handcuffs from a jail in Chile to face murder charges in Peru.
He was flown out in a tiny Cessna six-seater plane.
Van der Sloot is now accused of murdering 21-year-old Stephany Flores Ramirez, who was found in his hotel room with her neck broken. Van der Sloot denies any wrongdoing.
$5,000 she had won at a casino hours earlier was missing. Van der Sloot told his captors he is innocent.
"All this is unfolding five years to the day after Natalee Holloway disappeared. I can't believe that's just a coincidence?" INSIDE EDITION's Paul Boyd asked Pat Brown, a prominent criminal profiler.
"It's not necessarily that he picked this particular day, but he might have been over-emotional on this particular day, angry about what had happened to him five years ago and I'm betting he found another girl and went back to his place and she turned him down and he just erupted," said Brown.
Van der Sloot tried to change his appearance during his five days on the run, cropping his hair short and reportedly dyeing it.
He was arrested in Chile just as his latest alleged victim was buried.
Natalee Holloway's mother Beth sent a message saying she "Extends her deepest sympathy to the family of Stephany Flores and prays for swift and sure justice."
Meanwhile, federal prosecutors say van der Sloot tried to extort $250,000 from Natalee Holloway's family for information about her fate. The FBI was preparing to have him arrested when he allegedly murdered Ramirez.
