MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry is apologizing after remarks on her show were made about Mitt Romney's family holiday photo. INSIDE EDITION explains.
Mitt Romney’s family holiday photo with his adopted African-American grandson on his knee ignited a TV war of words.
Melissa Harris-Perry said on her MSNBC show, "Any caption for this one?"
A pundit said, "One of these things is not like the other."
Another said, "It really sums up the diversity of the Republican party."
The people on Fox New’s The Five weren't amused. Kimberly Guilfoyle said, “I’m sure he'll be absolutely delighted to be part of such a loving and spiritual family and the fact that they belittled that, I think it's shameful. I don't know why she still has a job there actually.”
Andrea Tantaros said, “And it's just not funny, there's nothing funny about it, it's bad comedy to boot.”
And there was more backlash on CNN.
Ana Navarro said, “I did find it in absolutely bad taste. I think there is nothing funny about adoption regardless of the color of the baby, regardless of the color of the family.”
But not everyone was offended.
Marc Lamont Hill said, “They were pointing out the fact that the picture itself was sought of a spectacle and they were sought of making fun of the Republican Party. I don't think they were making fun of the baby, if they were I’d be with you. This was a light moment making fun of Mitt Romney. It wasn't inappropriate.”
Harris-Perry, feeling the heat, just issued five separate apologies on Twitter. In one tweet she said, "I am sorry. Without reservation or qualification. I apologize to the Romney family.”
In another she wrote: "I apologize to all families built on loving transracial adoptions who feel I degraded their lives or choices."
So far no word from the vacationing Romney clan.
