It's Jimmy Fallon's big debut on The Tonight Show and excitement is at a fever pitch for his first night as the show returns to New York. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.
A rotten break for Jimmy Fallon who was sick with a cold on the day of his Tonight Show debut!
Fallon explained how it happened on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show: “When your baby gets a cold, you get a cold.”
He admitted that the big new job has him quaking in his shoes as he added, “Maybe it’s just something that happens to me when I get nervous—my body kind of shuts down. But I get through it.”
There's excitement in the air as Jimmy Fallon brings the Tonight Show back to the city where it began 60 years ago. He'll be broadcasting from the very same studio Johnny Carson called home in the legendary building: Studio 6B at 30 Rockefeller Center.
The Tonight Show’s move to New York has brought more than 100 jobs to the city, but of course, it's a different story in Los Angeles.
Jim Moret, who was in L.A., explained, “It's eerily quiet here at the Burbank studios, home to the Tonight Show ever since Johnny Carson brought it here in 1972. There's nothing on the walls to indicate Jay Leno was ever here. The poster with his name and face were painted over as soon as he left."
Was Jimmy Fallon destined to get the Tonight Show job? Back when he was a little boy, he loved staying up late to watch Johnny Carson. And back when he was in eighth grade, he predicted, “James Fallon will replace David Letterman on the Late Night Show.”
Well, that's pretty close to what happened. And the show must go on, even if Jimmy Fallon has a cold!
