Editor Anna Wintour is defending the new Vogue cover, as criticism pours in over Kim Kardashian and Kanye West making the cover. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.
Just days after her dream come true Vogue magazine cover with fiance Kanye West, Kim Kardashian stepped out in a white crop top and matching skirt with a thigh-high slit.
The reality TV star was congratulated by photographers as she and her mom, Kris Jenner arrived for singer Ciara's baby shower in Beverly Hills carrying two huge gift baskets.
Meantime, that Vogue cover is generating a firestorm of controversy.
On the Today show, Al Roker said, "People have gone nuts online, they're so upset about the cover!"
A photoshopped parody by James Franco and Seth Rogen has appeared with their faces in place of Kim and Kanye.
Even the Muppets are getting in on it with a photo of Kermit the frog and Miss Piggy in a wedding dress on the cover of "Vague" magazine. Ouch!
Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar put it bluntly in a tweet: "Well....I guess i'm canceling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me?"
Emma Bazilian, staff writer at Adweek magazine told INSIDE EDITION, "This is really a win-win for everyone. Kim Kardashian gets to be on the cover of Vogue, which is really huge for her. It's saying that she's moved from reality star to cultural icon. And for Vogue, everyone's talking about the magazine."
On Good Morning America this morning, Kim's sister Kourtney seemed oblivious to the controversy, saying, "I don't hear about any news. I'm kind of the last to hear about anything."
So, why all the fuss? It began earlier this year when Kanye told Ryan Seacrest that Kim deserved to be on the cover of the world's leading fashion magazine, even more than Michelle Obama, who has been on the cover twice.
Kanye told Seacrest, "There's no way Kim shouldnt be on the cover of Vogue. She's like, the most intriguing woman right now. Nobody's looking at what Obama's wearing!"
He reportedly appealed directly to fabled Vogue editor Anna Wintour on Kim's behalf, but Wintour denies that she folded under pressure.
"He did nothing of the sort" she wrote in her editor's letter. "It was entirely our idea to do it."
Even little baby North appeared in the photoshoot for the magazine which hits stands March 31st.
