Donald Sterling's so-called apology seems to have gotten him into more hot water after he took a swipe at Magic Johnson. INSIDE EDITION explains.
Donald Sterling’s so-called apology to the nation is backfiring, big time. He actually made his situation worse by going after basketball legend Magic Johnson.
Sterling told CNN’s Anderson Cooper, “Big Magic Johnson, what has he done?"
Cooper replied, "Well, he is a business person."
Sterling fired back and said, "He's got AIDS! Did he do any business? Did he help anybody in South L.A.?"
Cooper said, "He has HIV, he doesn't have full blown AIDS."
"Well, what kind of guy goes to every city and has sex with every girl? I think he should be ashamed of himself," said Sterling.
Sterling is now being universally condemned.
On the Today show, Al Roker said, “He needs to be kicked out of humanity at this point. I mean, wow.”
Image consultant Mike Paul told INSIDE EDITION, “Sterling did not give a true apology. A true apology has no 'ifs' or 'buts' in it. And a true apology is always looking to have a repentant heart and that was the furthest thing from a repentant heart."

Sterling joins a long list of high profile personalities whose TV apologies have flopped.
You’ll recall how Paula Dean went on the Today show to apologize for using the N-word. Her apology left many scratching their heads when she said, "I is what I is and I am not changing."
Sterling is also coming under heat for making this crack about Magic Johnson, "Jews, when they get successful they will help their people. Some of the African-Americans, maybe I will get in trouble again, they don't want to help anybody. What has Magic Johnson really done for children's hospitals."
NBA commissioner Adam Silver was so outraged he issued a statement apologizing to Magic Johnson: "I feel compelled on behalf of the NBA family to apologize to him that he continues to be dragged into this situation and be degraded by such a malicious and personal attack."
Sterling was close to tears when he spoke about his purported mistress, V. Stiviano, saying, “I thought she cared for me. I was stupid. How could a girl care for a man 51 years older? She didn't or else she wouldn't have released those tapes."
Mike Paul has some advice for Donald Sterling, "I want to look you in the eye, I want to be able to know that you understand what you did was wrong and I feel comfortable that you are not going to make that mistake in the future."
