An 85-year-old great-grandfather helped fight off three men attempting to rob an Ireland store in a harrowing incident captured on video.
Customer Denis O'Connor was in the County Cork store Saturday evening when two armed assailants entered.
The men, armed with hammers and a sawed-off shotgun, demanded money from the store’s safe, but O’Connor and the store manager, Tim Murphy, were able to stop the robbery.
O’Connor fought off one of them even while being threatened with a hammer while the store manager tackled another one. The would-be bandits fled empty-handed.
The whole ordeal was over in less than a minute, according to reports.
Murphy is thanking O'Connor for his heroic effort in thwarting the robbery.
"I owe Denis a huge debt of gratitude it was an incredible act of bravery from him," Murphy said.
