Before ABC confirmed that Rosie O’Donnell was heading back to The View, Whoopi Goldberg had a lot to say today about all the buzz. INSIDE EDITION explains.
Whoopi Goldberg is not keeping quiet about the big changes at The View.
On Thursday's show, she said, “Quit trying to make me into something I’m not. I'm not a little girl with cat claws. I'm not a cat, I’m a human being. I’m a girl with a fist. I’m tired of people saying, ‘You know, iIf this one comes in, if this one comes in.’ I don't argue with people, we have spirited discussions. I don't fight with people, it's not my way.”
She spoke out on Thursday’s View just moments before ABC made the announcement via Twitter: "Its official! ABC confirms Rosie O’Donnell returns as co-host of #TheView w/ moderator Whoopi Goldberg for season 18."
There is rampant speculation that O’Donnell’s strong personality will inevitably "clash" with Goldberg’s.
New York Post columnist Cindy Adams, a close friend of Barbara Walters, wrote, “Will they butt heads? Sure. Both bark to be top dog? Yeah. ABC knows...Doesn't care. The view of "The View" is let there be blood. It'll grab viewers."
A source tells the New York Daily News, "Whoopi runs the show. Then you have Rosie, as alpha-dog as it gets. How will that work with Whoopi and Rosie?"
Someone not thrilled about O’Donnell’s return is her old View nemesis Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Hasselbeck said on Wednesday's Fox & Friends, “Here in comes to The View the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network, and really in the face of a person who stood by her and had civilized debates for the time that she was there.”
Former View co-host Joy Behar took aim at Hasselbeck Wednesday night on CNN, saying, “To say ‘She spits in the face of the military.’ That's a dangerous thing to say about somebody. First of all, it's not true. I would like her to prove it.”
Don Lemon replied, “But you want her to explain that. Why?”
Behar said, “I want her to explain it. It's a hate-filled remark. And she should explain it.”
O’Donnell didn't let Hasselbeck’s comments slide off her back either, tweeting: “Think she has donated any money to the armed services??? Hmmmmm.”
So, will O’Donnell and Goldberg get along? We shall see.
