Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's mom and cousin were involved in a head-on collision with an alleged drunk driver. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
INSIDE EDITION is learning more about the terrible wreck that nearly killed the mother of Hercules star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
The SUV that his mom was in was actually a Christmas present from The Rock. When the movie star gave his mom the gift in 2012, he even put a giant red bow on the hood. The Rock wrote on Facebook at the time: "At 14 I saw my mom crying about our only car being repossessed. This felt good. Merry Christmas, Mom."
The SUV is now a total wreck, destroyed in a head-on crash, allegedly with a drunk driver.
The Rock's cousin, Lina Fanene, was also in the vehicle. Just before the crash, the two women posed for a photo inside the SUV.
The Rock's mom won an award earlier in the evening. His mother and cousin were on there way home from the event.
"My mom & cousin were struck head on by a drunk driver," The Rock revealed on Instagram. "They lived. First reaction is to find the person who did this and do unrelenting harm to them. But then you realize the most important thing is my family lived thru this and we can hug each other that much tighter these days."
He goofed around when he visited his cousin during her three days in the hospital, and she put on a brave face as she nursed her injured arm flying home on a private jet, presumably paid for by The Rock.
She can smile now, but it could have ended very differently.
The alleged drunk driver was also taken to the hospital. It is not known if she will be charged in connection with the accident.
