The 2014 Emmys packed plenty of memorable moments, but some are wondering if the bit where Sofia Vergara was placed on a pedestal is a sexist move? INSIDE EDITION has the details.
It's the Emmy kiss everyone's talking about.
INSIDE EDITION counted a full 10 seconds of Julia Louis-Dreyfus locking lips with Bryan Cranston right in the middle of the show before Jimmy Fallon finally broke it up.
Julia pulled herself together to accept the Best Actress in a Comedy Emmy for Veep, while Cranston looked like the cat who swallowed the canary.
INSIDE EDITION is now learning they'd both cleared the kiss with their respective spouses before bringing down the house. They were actually recreating a TV moment they shared 20 years ago on an episode of Seinfeld.
Another Emmy moment that has everyone buzzing is Sofia Vergara standing on a rotating pedestal, showing off her curves as the president of the television academy spoke.
While Vergara was on the pedestal, the president said, “Our success is always giving the viewer something compelling to watch.”
It sparked immediate uproar on social media. Many found it "sexist" and "misogynistic.” At 10:06 p.m., just as Vergara stepped off the rotating platform, Katie Couric tweeted: “I love Sofia Vergara but did anyone find that schtick somewhat offensive?”
The Modern Family star responded backstage, "I think it's absolutely the opposite. It means that somebody can be hot and also be funny and make fun of herself and enjoy and work.”
She even appeared to take a shot at the anchorwoman saying, “Someone who started this, I know who it was, has no sense of humor and should lighten up a bit!”
The red carpet was packed with stars! INSIDE EDITION’s Deborah Norville was there for all the action.
The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon made a bee line for Deborah with a tempting invitation, “Deborah, please come on our show! Pinkie swear.”
Since the show was held on a Monday night instead of Sunday, everyone was worried about a massive traffic jam during Los Angeles’ notorious rush hour.
Jimmy Kimmel actually got there by taking the subway. He posted a photo on Instagram of him and his wife riding the rails. He was wearing rainbow suspenders in tribute to the late Robin Williams.
One Emmy nominee actually beat the traffic by riding his bike and shot the whole thing with a GoPro camera. Tom Smuts is a writer for Mad Men and when he got to the red carpet his bike helmet was still in his hand.
There were plenty of other memorable moments once everyone finally made it to the show.
Presenter Gwen Stefani had her own John Travolta moment, mispronouncing the winner for Best Variety Series when she called The Colbert Report, “The Culbert Report.”
Jimmy Fallon, who lost to Colbert, played the flub for laughs, saying, “She said it wrong, so, it must be a mistake.”
Sarah Silverman took off her shoes and sprinted to the stage to pick up her Emmy for Writing in a Variety Special.
Backstage, she told Victoria Recano that she took off her heels so she could run faster, saying, “My shoes were off. I couldn't put them on because they were strappy! I wouldn't have had enough time to thank everyone.”
Best bromance of the night went to Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey of HBO's True Detective. Their complimentary tuxedos reminded many on social media of the characters from the movie Night at the Roxbury, inspiring a side-by-side photo on Twitter.
Actor Chris Kattan, who starred in the movie with Will Farrell tweeted: “#Emmys this really is just..weird.”
Mark Ruffalo, who starred in Best TV Movie winner The Normal Heart, needed a little help wiping all the congratulatory kisses off his face.
Jim Parsons won his fourth consecutive Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy for The Big Bang Theory.
Modern Family picked up the Emmy for Best Comedy Series for the fifth year in a row!
INSIDE EDITION’s Deborah Norville spoke to Modern Family actor Ed O’Neill on the red carpet, he said, “It get's tougher every year."
Norville asked, "You think so?"
He replied, "Yeah, it gets naturally tougher."
The perennial favorite was up against Netflix's hit Orange is the New Black, which was nominated for a whopping 12 Emmys!
Deborah Norville caught up one of the show's stars Laverne Cox, the first transsexual ever nominated for an Emmy.
Cox said, "You made me cry Deborah Norville. I do know that my dreams are coming true in this moment, right now."
What a night it was for Bryan Cranston. He told INSIDE EDITION’s Jim Moret, “Isn't it amazing. I know some people are thinking, 'Didn’t we say goodbye to him last year?'”
He celebrated his third Emmy win. In total, Breaking Bad picked up five Emmys. Not bad for a show that ended a year ago!
And there's the most emotional highlight of the night. Robin Williams remembered with a special tribute from his dear friend Billy Crystal.
Crystal said, “The beautiful light will continue to shine on us forever. The glow will be so bright, it will warm your heart, it will make your eyes glisten and you will think to yourselves, 'Robin Williams, what a concept!'"
